blog post 12

I think the most interesting concept about the importance of play is the creativity. Today we live in a society almost like robots. That's how we develop ADD. Then we because a pill popping nation.

I remember the time I saved a little boy's life from drowning. It was one the most memorable times I have ever had. I was about eleven years old, living in Brookwood Forest Apartment on Monument Road. I was in the pool area and I was a boy that didn't know how to swim, jump in the pool without his floats. I quickly jumped in the pool after him and came to his rescue and at the time he was about 7 years old.

"These are the people who are in crisis leaving everything behind." Pg. 259  I think what's very effective about this quote is how it relates to my religion of Christianity. History always has an alluring way of repeating itself especially in the bible.

I remember descriptively playing my game in class; "Heads Up Seven Up"  I was in the first grade and the objective was to guess who touches your thumb out of the several people that were picked from the teacher. Some people used to chest on the sly and I found that quite humorous . Others played fair and caught on to the fame very quickly. I went to Lone Star Elementary school and I was in the fist grade.

Food Inc.

The essential theme of "Food Inc." is the eliteness of where people food derives from. There was nothing that really surprised me about this film due to the fact of teenagers having the leading case of obesity within the U.S.A. In our generation you see twelve and thirteen year old females with America's Next Top Model bodies and guys within the same age groups with mustaches andgoatees. There had to be an explanation for this problem: the hormones in the food. My mom taught me a long time ago to try and budget out your money correctly, making it affordable for me to attain organic and natural foods so they don't deteriorate your organs like conventional items. And I toltally agree because I have felt the difference and my mom is from Alabama and she has raised cattle, milked cows, fed chickens and ect.

Supersize Me

I think the theme of "Supersize Me" was obesity. They showed all the negative factors and nutrition facts afiliated with eating fast food restuarants. I totally agree with all of the opinions presented in this video. I was quite abliged of the fact of how McDonald's surpasses the other fast-food industries by forty percent.I was also appalled by the fact that Mississippi has the fattest population.

Nicholas Carr Arcticle Blog

The arcticle that i have chosen ' Is Google Making Us Stupid? What the Internet is doing to Our brains. The theme of this arcticle is the author's point of view concerning Google and whether it's " brain-washing us or not. What I learned new was that some information on Google can be factual while some can be highly opinionated information. This is vitally important to know for people that are in school.I t determains if people should continue to utalize Google in thier future.

                    Kwabena Boahen

The video of my choice is on "A Computer that workes like a Brain by Kwabena Boahen". The theme is about how the brain operates in correalation with a computer. I observed that is was quite profound how the brain can exert as much energy as a labtop. Then what I learned new was how the speed of the brain also kind of relates to the computer as well. Its scientifically proven that it processes 10 16ths bits per second.

The unknown things.

Its quite fascinating to know that people come up with new ideas and build upon the creativity as they open there mind. For instance, I've never thought that someone would ever build a vegeterian McDonalds. This event occurred recently in September,4th, 2012. This non- meat restaurant was built in India. It's also the first one ever built within the United States of America. Most people considered the fact of how the majority of the Indian population avoids certian types of meat. For example, Hindus consider cows sacred and don't eat beef, while Muslims avoid pork. Its also quite compelling to percieve that Indians spend a quarter of their income on food, compared to the one point five percent they shell out for health issues in life.

One more to the lake

This story is about a young man reminising about how his vacation was each year to a lake in Maine.  They would go each year for a whole month along with his son.  The activities would include fishing, camping, canoing, swimming and of course eating.  The author spoke destinctively reguarding how easy it seems not to have a care in the world just enjoying life.  He gave details to each and every event that occurred.  The mood of this story was remembering details of the past vacations and it allowed you to visibly see how people interact with one another because he painted a picture as he was telling the story. The author purpose was to  entertain you about the leisure time he was on vacation.  The tone was almost if he was trying to have to compare how vacations was so much fun and enjoyable verses how they are know.

Mother Tongue by Amy

This  story is about a young lady that enjoyed everything about the english language. But her mother on the other hand has broken english though she reads all kinds of books, reports and other material.  Amy friends understand only 50 percent of what she says and others understand 80 to 90 percent.  But to Amy she understands her perfectly clear when her mom speaks.  Amy is actually describing to the reader that when people hear the way her mom speaks it's broken english or limited english.  Even to the fact when she was younger she was literally ashamed and embarressed of the way her mom used english. And when Amy was a teenager her mom relied on her to answer the phone and conversate on the behalf  of her mother.  The author is saying that she believes that her mothers english had an effect on limiting her possibilites.  The purpose was to inform you about how her mom broken english was not affective communication.  The mood was that you had compassion for Amy because she had to deal with this pretty much all her life and a young girl. And even though her mom was intelligent but appeared ignorant because she had a communication problem.

CHAMPION OF THE WORLD

In the beginning of this story they were very hopeful and a little positive that Joe Lewis was going to win. As the fight begin the mood changes because it appeared that the contender was winning.  The black community murmur and sighs of uncertainty when hearing the jabs and blows against Joe Lewis.  By round three it seemlingly to look bad because the people began to pray.  The mood of this story was very intensed and watchful, because even going to buy snacks was a destraction that would make noise and would start a turbulance.  Now it really looks bad, Louis was taking blows left and right, and the people start worrying, it felt like the black community was defeated all over again.  We were talked about, mistreated, frustrated, abused we were demoralized human beings. Then all of a sudden Joe Lewis looked angry, and he was taking jabs and blows to the contender and at this point Joe Lewis was "winning" and he won.  The purpose of the story was to entertain.  The theme of this story was when it looks like the ending is being defeated, have faith and believe that the ending is victorious.
